SINOPSIS – Don Carlo
En tiempos de la Inquisición española, Don Carlo, príncipe de España, está secretamente enamorado de Isabel de Valois, quien ha sido obligada a casarse con su padre, el rey Felipe II, por razones políticas. Mientras sufre por este amor imposible, Carlo es alentado por su amigo Rodrigo, marqués de Posa, a luchar por la libertad de Flandes, sometida por el imperio español.

La corte está envuelta en celos, traiciones y sospechas. La princesa de Éboli, enamorada de Carlo, se convierte en pieza clave del conflicto al descubrir sus sentimientos hacia la reina. El rey, manipulado por el Gran Inquisidor, empieza a sospechar de su hijo y de su esposa.

Rodrigo se sacrifica por Carlo, asumiendo la culpa de una supuesta traición y es asesinado. En el acto final, Carlo e Isabel se despiden para siempre. Cuando el rey y la Inquisición intentan arrestarlo, aparece el espectro del emperador Carlos V —abuelo de Carlo— y lo arrastra hacia la tumba, protegiéndolo del poder terrenal.

SYNOPSIS – Don Carlo
In the time of the Spanish Inquisition, Don Carlo, Prince of Spain, is secretly in love with Isabel de Valois, who has been forced to marry his father, King Philip II, for political reasons. While suffering from this impossible love, Carlo is encouraged by his friend Rodrigo, Marquis of Posa, to fight for the freedom of Flanders, oppressed by the Spanish Empire.

The court is engulfed in jealousy, betrayal, and suspicion. The Princess of Éboli, in love with Carlo, becomes a key figure in the conflict when she discovers his feelings for the queen. The king, manipulated by the Grand Inquisitor, begins to suspect both his son and his wife.

Rodrigo sacrifices himself for Carlo, taking the blame for an alleged betrayal and is murdered. In the final act, Carlo and Isabel say goodbye forever. When the king and the Inquisition try to arrest him, the ghost of Emperor Charles V — Carlo’s grandfather — appears and drags him to the grave, protecting him from earthly power.
